The Archbishop writes

To enable me to get to know the clergy better, an overnight meeting has been organised for each of the three pastoral areas of the Archdiocese. They will start at 3 pm on the afternoon of the first day and finish with lunch on the second day. We will also celebrate Mass together on the second morning. I hope that every priest and deacon will be able to come to these events. They are a priority for me and hopefully I can share something of what I think my mission is and also listen to your experience and hopes. The dates and venues are as follows.

  • South East Pastoral Area: Weds 5 and Thurs 6 February at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel, Dartford Bridge (DA2 6QF).

  • South West Pastoral Area: Weds 12 and Thurs 13 February at the Jurys Inn Hotel, Croydon (CR0 9XY)

  • Kent Pastoral Area: Thurs 20 and Fri 21 February at the Marriott Tudor Park Hotel (Maidstone, ME14 4NQ)

Please do all you can to save the date in your diary now and further details will be forthcoming. There is flexibility in which dates you can attend. I very much look forward to us being together.

The theme of this year’s retreat will be:
THE THIRD DAY: WHERE TRUST & MERCY MEET

Following the successful 2018 retreat at the Kairos Centre, Roehampton, the venue has been booked for both 2019 and 2020. A map and details of how to get to the retreat centre by car or public transport can be sent to you on request.  If you are able to join us, please complete the form below.

Members of the team will be at the Reception to look after bags and help with room registration, but to ensure you can be greeted upon arrival, please come to the Reception on Monday 16 September between the hours of 3pm to 5pm.  Upon registration you will be directed or taken to your room as required.  Please note the key will be in the door and towels will be provided in your room with soap in the corridor.

We begin the Retreat with Supper in the Dining Room on the Monday evening at 6pm.  There will be an Introductory Talk at 7pm, ending with Exposition and Night Prayer on the first evening from 7.45-8.45pm, after which you are most welcome in the Lounge for a nightcap. We will be concelebrating Mass during the Retreat, so please make sure that you bring an alb and appropriate stole.  Also, don’t forget your Breviary for the celebration of the Divine Office. Leaders for the Offices and readers or chief concelebrants will be chosen from the retreat members for Mass. A list of all the helpers will be available in the Conference Room. The Retreat will conclude with Lunch on Friday 20 September.

Annual Retreat for Southwark Priests
Sep

to Sep 14

Annual Retreat for Southwark Priests

This year’s Southwark Diocesan Clergy Retreat, led by Fr John Farrell OP from the English Province of the Order of Preachers. Fr John is an experienced giver of retreats and talks, indeed offering a recent in-service day on the Eucharist at the Heart of the Church at the Amigo Hall. He has previously served as Prior Provincial of the Order of Preachers in the English Province as well as Student Master and he currently promotes the Lay Dominican movement as a way of spirituality in contemporary society.

This year’s retreat will be on Jesus our One High Priest and, in Him, priests within a priestly people.

Following the sad closure of the Emmaus Centre in December 2017 and in line with requests and following a survey of the clergy, we have moved the venue this year to the Kairos Centre, Roehampton, where there are a large number of ensuite rooms. Many of you will have experienced the Kairos Centre in the past and the quality of welcome they provide. It is with joy that we have secured the Kairos Centre for this year’s Retreat and the Retreat in 2019. A map and details of how to get to the retreat centre by car or public transport can be sent to you on request.  If you are able to join us, please complete the form below.

Members of the team will be at the Reception to look after bags and help with room registration, but to ensure you can be greeted upon arrival, please come to the Reception on Monday 10 September between the hours of 3pm to 5pm.  Upon registration you will be directed or taken to your room as required.  Please note the key will be in the door and towels will be provided in your room with soap in the corridor.

The Retreat will conclude with Lunch on Friday 14 September.
